Original Vintage Kone Chair by Roger McLay

$2,400.00 AUD

The simple and practical 'Kone' chair was made using a modernist technique of bending Marine Ply using steam to create this iconic masterpiece.

So incredibly rare and almost impossible to find one of these sculptural beauties at all these days.

Originally, buyers could also choose a chenille or cushioned tweed cover for greater comfort. We love the nude version and the focus on the wonderful timber.

The Kone chair was designed in Sydney by Roger McLay in 1948 and made by him and later Descon of Sydney.

Innovative, light and versatile, plywood was a popular material for furniture after World War II.

This Chair bears the original makers label.

As to be expected from a piece of this vintage, some blemishes, but none detract from the beauty of this wonderful example of this iconic chair.

Size is 78cm h x 64cm w x 64cm d.
